Job summary

Idm Construction is seeking an experienced tile setter to join our crew on-site in Singapore. You will align, cut, lay and finish tiles, ensuring precise patterns and durable joints. You’ll work with hand and power tools, measure against blueprints, and prepare surfaces for tiling.

We expect practical skills in laying beds, applying mortar and grout, and reading plans. The role involves estimating time and materials, and collaborating with teammates to complete projects safely and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Align and straighten tile using levels, squares and straight edges.
• Determine and implement the best layout to achieve a pattern.
• Cut and shape tile to fit around obstacles and odd spaces with hand/power cutting tools.
• Finish and dress the joints; wipe grout from between tiles with a damp sponge.
• Apply mortar to tile back, position tile, and press or tap with the trowel handle to affix the tile to the base.
• Mix, apply, and spread plaster, concrete, mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives to form a bed for the tiles, using a brush, trowel, and screed.
• Prepare cost and labor estimates based on calculations of time and materials needed for the project.
• Measure and mark surfaces to be tiled, following blueprints.
• Level the concrete and allow it to dry.
• Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets.
• Prepare surfaces for tiling by attaching lath or waterproof paper, or by applying a cement mortar coat onto a metal screed
