Job summary

Wheeler Mectrade (S) Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Workshop Technician for our light-industrial mechanical engineering team. You will operate and maintain lathes, mills and fabrication equipment, interpret 2D/3D drawings, and ensure safety compliance.

Candidates should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology and 2–3 years of workshop experience, with strong hand-eye coordination and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a mechanical workshop.
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of workshop machinery.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and teamwork; English or Mandarin proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a wide range of workshop machinery including lathes and mills.
• Use hand tools and measuring instruments with precision.
• Fabricate, assemble, maintain and install mechanical components.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules for workshop equipment.
• Maintain safe, clean work area and follow safety protocols.
• Prepare and interpret 2D/3D drawings and schematics.
• Document procedures and maintain records.
• Assist training of less experienced technicians as needed.
• Participate in design & fabrication discussions and follow standard processes.
• Handle ad-hoc tasks (e.g., stock takes) as required.
• 5.5-day work week with scheduled half-day Saturday; overtime with pay.
