Job description

The Principal oversees the planning and implementation of curriculum and mentor, coach and develops the team to achieve the Inclusive Preschool objectives, outcomes and impact. He/she ensures the viability of the preschool as a business entity and is in charge of the operations and governance of the preschool by developing and implementing policies and processes and adhering to ECDA policies and processes.

Job Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Planning

· Lead the team to achieve the Preschool goals.

· Clarify and promote the organization's vision, mission, and core values

· Implement/enforce policies and ensure compliance with quality standards and statutory requirements

· Oversee planning and implementation of curriculum and processes to support achievement of the school objectives, including the development of the children

· Plan and oversee the day-to-day operations of the center to ensure efficiency

· Plan for and lead in the implementation of school activities and events

· Lead, guide, coach, and inspire the staff team to deliver holistic care for the client experience

· Supervise and monitor the progress and achievement of work outcomes of the staff team

· Plan, review, and evaluate the performance of the staff in the center

2. Quality and Standards

· Monitor the effectiveness and quality of learning programmes and curriculum, including the level of caregiver satisfaction at the school.

· Ensure the quality standards in all areas, including delivery of learning

programmes, curriculum, operations, administration, health, and safety of the school

· Work with curriculum specialists to ensure consistent quality standards are met.

· Follow up with public and parents’ concerns and feedback

· Ensure compliance and regulations are adhered to diligently.

3. Development of Staff

· Oversee the induction, on-the-job training, and development of staff so that they are equipped with the skills and competencies required for the job

· Mentor and coach teachers to ensure high standards of curriculum delivery

· Plan and recommend the professional and career development of the staff

4. Engaging Parents and Community

· Set up various platforms to engage and establish a good relationship with parents and the community, eg, plan and organize PTC, parents’ orientation

· Lead in the planning and implementation of community projects to increase community engagement and awareness for the school.

5. Achievement of Business Results

· Prepare a financial budget for the school

· Ensure budget is met by managing the financial performance, including monitoring monthly expenditures and supporting marketing efforts to ensure enrolment and enrichment targets are met

·Ensure all monthly fee payments, proper documents are accounted for, and submitted timely and accurately

·Optimize the use of school assets and resources to maximize operational efficiency

Drive in Inclusion Advocacy works and initiatives

Other Responsibilities

·To assist in ad-hoc projects/committees as and when required by the Management.

·To perform any other duties as directed by the Director/CEO.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualifications

·Degree/Master's in Preschool Education / Early Childhood Care Education or equivalent.

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

·More than 5 years in a leadership role in early childhood education and settings.

Knowledge/Skills

·Adequate knowledge of current early childhood care and education development theories, research, and practices

·Familiar with ECDA preschool licensing and SPARK accreditation

·Good communication and management skills

· Strong leadership qualities with excellent planning and interpersonal skills

· Creative and passionate in inclusive preschool education

· Able to work well independently and in a team

· Enjoy working with young children and are able to work well with families
