The fellow will produce peer-reviewed articles, policy briefs, and datasets, contributing to regional security and economic governance scholarship.

The role involves independent and collaborative work, with emphasis on methodologically rigorous, policy-relevant scholarship

Qualifications

• PhD in relevant field, awarded by start date.
• Peer reviewed publications or near-term publishable work.
• Regional expertise in maritime Southeast Asia.
• Working knowledge of Malay and/or Indonesian to access Malay- and Indonesian-language sources.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a coherent research agenda on the Indo-Malay Archipelago (e.g., maritime security and law of the sea; great power competition; regional institutions; economic statecraft; climate, fisheries, and non traditional security).
• Publish high-quality outputs: at least 1 SSCI/Scopus journal article per year and 1 policy brief/working paper.
• Develop and maintain datasets relevant to this subregion with documentation and reproducibility.
• Contribute to competitive grant applications; support delivery of funded projects (methods, fieldwork, reporting, budgets, and ethics compliance).
• Organize workshops/roundtables with regional scholars and practitioners.
