Plastic Parts Quality is one of the functional teams under QiEP, Corporate Quality. Its major task is to secure plastic parts from external manufacturers to fulfill LEGO's quality standards. The main platform is external suppliers’ platform. The goal is to work together through simplicity, coherence, and collaboration; reduce customer claims via more effective quality functions in development, supplier quality management, and outgoing quality control; escalate, prevent, and detect quality risks before products reach customers; solve quality issues systematically; and ensure customer satisfaction linked to continuous improvement. Our team slogan is “Make-Buy same quality.” This position aims to identify product quality risks and eliminate them during the development stage. The key challenge is to have strong expertise in quality development, product knowledge, and a quality mindset to ensure full compliance with quality requirements during development.

Core Responsibilities

  • Evaluate product structure and design for safety and functionality throughout development.
  • Review processes for continuous improvement and drive cross-functional projects to optimize processes.
  • Address major incidents to identify root causes and implement proper problem-solving measures.
  • Initiate Q-Test plans for high-complexity elements to ensure risks are identified at DFM during production.
  • Define test methods during development and ensure suppliers conduct tests accordingly.
  • Conduct production pilots at vendor’s plant, evaluate, and qualify manufacturing processes.
  • Proactively improve your professional skills and transform knowledge into tangible results.
  • Support supplier quality management activities such as audits and customer claim handling.
  • Identify visual quality issues according to LEGO Error definitions and VQG guidelines.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for yourself and others.
  • Have authority to approve/reject development testing methodologies, escalate risks, and approve/reject PPAP for mass production.
  • Verify development performance against agreements.
  • Contribute risk assessments using professional tools like CTQs, FMEA, SPC, CPK, PPAP.
  • Follow development weak points impacting mass production stability.
  • Provide quality input during early development stages for novelty projects.
  • Coordinate PS tests with the PS team and suppliers.
  • Approve physical tests for development and drive PPAP approval.
  • Improve supplier development quality management, especially for high-complexity projects.
  • Review development data to evaluate performance.
  • Initiate P-FMEA to minimize process risks and validate key measurements.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Proven experience in quality development or design engineering in plastic/injection molding, with relevant education preferred.
  • Strong quality mindset with a commitment to quality.
  • Expertise in plastic materials, molding, or related processes; toy industry experience is a plus, along with knowledge of safety standards like ASTM, EN71, ISO 8124.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA is required.
  • Experience in supplier quality development in Thailand is preferred.
  • Project management skills, good communication skills in English, and Mandarin are advantageous.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Assess quality stability during development.
  • Verify reliability of supplier testing methods.
  • Make decisions on TQ closures and PPAP approvals.
