Job summary

A leading company is seeking an Electrical Engineer responsible for ensuring plant equipment reliability, managing compliance with electrical safety regulations, and driving energy efficiency improvements. The candidate must have a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience in a chemical process environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of chemical processes.
  • Basic knowledge in PLC / control systems.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all plant equipment reliability and usability.
  • Review and plan electrical equipment replacement schedules.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for complex equipment breakdowns and prepare exceptional reports.
  • Recommend equipment modifications.
  • Manage schedules for electrical-related equipment SDM tasks.
  • Respond promptly to urgent breakdown incidents.
  • Drive energy efficiency by optimising energy consumption.
  • Review and develop electrical-related SOPs.
  • Monitor and ensure plant compliance with electrical safety regulations and required standards.
  • Responsible for yearly sub-station shutdown preventive maintenance.
  • Attend to all electrical troubleshooting.
  • Manage and update inventory.
  • Review, prepare and provide inputs for risk assessments.
  • Evaluate maintenance strategies for effectiveness and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Supervise contractors’ work and negotiate proposal prices.
  • Review reports submitted by contractors.
  • Control project cost and track milestones.
  • Manage RM (raw material) cost.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specifications.
  • Review vendor contracts and assess contractor performance.
  • Conduct vendor service performance audits.
  • Liaise with UMT HQ technical team for process improvement and equipment issues.

Requirements:

  • Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of chemical processes.
  • Basic knowledge in PLC / control systems.
  • Familiar with ESH regulations.
