Job description:
Section Lead, Phlebotomy Services - Department of Laboratory Medicine
You will serve as the Section Lead for Phlebotomy Services within the Department of Laboratory Medicine at TTSH. Your responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the smooth and efficient operations of inpatient Phlebotomy Services, including staff training in venepuncture procedures and ensuring compliance with policies.
- Managing resource utilization, including manpower, supplies, equipment, and budgets, as well as staff deployment.
- Monitoring quality indicators such as error rates and contamination, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensuring proper document control, review, and staff acknowledgment of policies and procedures.
- Developing and reviewing work instructions and process improvements, and training staff accordingly.
- Providing orientation and onboarding for new staff, and ensuring adequate training before confirmation.
- Conducting on-the-job training, lectures, workshops, and training programs for staff from other departments and students.
- Assessing staff performance and technical competencies.
- Conducting annual performance reviews.
- Reviewing incident reports for risk management and safety improvements.
- Collaborating with other departments on initiatives like business continuity and quality improvement.
- Performing venepuncture during emergencies, such as manpower shortages or mass casualty events.
- Supervising, coaching, motivating staff, and resolving conflicts as a leader.
Requirements
- Diploma or higher qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory and relevant experience in phlebotomy services.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle challenges.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
