Job description:

Section Lead, Phlebotomy Services - Department of Laboratory Medicine

You will serve as the Section Lead for Phlebotomy Services within the Department of Laboratory Medicine at TTSH. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing the smooth and efficient operations of inpatient Phlebotomy Services, including staff training in venepuncture procedures and ensuring compliance with policies.
  2. Managing resource utilization, including manpower, supplies, equipment, and budgets, as well as staff deployment.
  3. Monitoring quality indicators such as error rates and contamination, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  4. Ensuring proper document control, review, and staff acknowledgment of policies and procedures.
  5. Developing and reviewing work instructions and process improvements, and training staff accordingly.
  6. Providing orientation and onboarding for new staff, and ensuring adequate training before confirmation.
  7. Conducting on-the-job training, lectures, workshops, and training programs for staff from other departments and students.
  8. Assessing staff performance and technical competencies.
  9. Conducting annual performance reviews.
  10. Reviewing incident reports for risk management and safety improvements.
  11. Collaborating with other departments on initiatives like business continuity and quality improvement.
  12. Performing venepuncture during emergencies, such as manpower shortages or mass casualty events.
  13. Supervising, coaching, motivating staff, and resolving conflicts as a leader.
Requirements
  • Diploma or higher qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory and relevant experience in phlebotomy services.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle challenges.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
