Overview
An Informatics Pharmacist is part of the team supporting existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems and Pharmacy Systems to facilitate safe and efficient work processes and optimization of pharmacy practice.
Job responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%):
Support of existing EMR and Pharmacy Systems
Maintain system setups by ensuring timely updates that supports ground processes and changes.
This also includes the training and education of Healthcare Professionals in the safe and effective use of EMR and Pharmacy systems in the Organization.
Troubleshoot and/or evaluate issues in System(s) or work processes and through close collaboration with System Support team and Pharmacy Users to optimize the use of, enhancement of System(s) and/or through work process changes to address the any challenges.
Review test plans and conduct Systems testing for any enhancements or optimization
Support the Department in the adoption of National Systems
These systems include Next Generation Electronic Medical Record (NGEMR), National Harmonized Integrated Pharmacy System (NHIPS) and National Billing System (NBS).
Staff will be expected to work with fellow team members in the department in leading or supporting these projects’ implementation in Alexandra Hospital. This will also involve close collaboration with stakeholders across departments and other Institutions to ensure a seamless transition and implementation.
This will include discussion with stakeholders to plan the workflows with new systems, configuration of the systems and intensive Systems testing to ensure the systems are configured correctly. Training and onboarding of users are part of the change management plan which will be co-developed and co-owned with team members within the Organization.
Co-lead and/or support the implementation and/or maintenance of Pharmacy automation systems
Co-lead and/or support various Inpatient or Outpatient Pharmacy automation systems in the planning, development of specifications of key automation functions for a value streamlined processes in medication management.
Collaborate with all stakeholders, including Nurses, Operations colleagues and external parties like Synapxe and identified Vendor teams for a seamless implementation of a well-integrated end-to-end system that’s safe, efficient and easy-to-use for our staff and patients.
Quality processes in System Maintenance
New systems are progressively implemented with an increasingly complex setup, staff will be required to support and enforce a standardized, well-defined, and described process to ensure System setup are configured accurately.
General
Actively support and foster Informatics and Department team communication respectively
To facilitate distribution of tasks efficiently within the team
Actively solicit opinions and recommendations from various healthcare professionals present information to the team lead for discussion
Support and/or Implement policies, practices and regulations established by the pharmacy department, various management committees and outside regulatory agencies e.g. MOH medication related policies, pharmacy practice standards, JCI standards.
Treats each patient, visitor and employee with compassion, courtesy and tact.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%):
Conducts new employee orientation and staff development programme for various IT systems used in the department.
Reviews relevant policy and procedure manuals regularly, making revisions as necessary.
Participates actively in developing new plans and strategic directions for the department.
Discusses and plans strategies with section ICs and pharmacy manager to attain pharmacy department objectives.
Job Requirements
At least Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
Proficient in English and at least 1 other local language
A team player with positive attitude, is self-motivated and open to learn new skill sets and perform in domain of Informatics Pharmacy
Must be a team player
Strong Verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Good understanding of pharmacy workflows
1 year experience in Inpatient and/or Outpatient Pharmacy practice is preferred.
