Job description

We are looking for a full time team member who is able to work the night shift and weekends day/night shift, in addition to regular day shift. You will be able to learn more about canine behaviour and training from our animal behaviour consultants and teachers. In addition, you will be able to learn and play together with all our puppies and dogs on campus. We have a great working environment and most of our teachers have been with us for many years.

A Pet Caretaker at Puppy Colours plays a vital role in the education and wellness of our dog students at the school. Our school is a fun and active place for dogs to learn basic & advanced skills while enjoying the company of other dogs and human friends. You will be responsible for caring for the dog students at the school and providing an excellent standard of care to the dogs, keeping the dogs happy and safe within a clean environment. You will receive foundation training on teaching dogs to learn basic skills using positive reinforcement methods. You have to be willing to learn and practise our training methods, ensuring all dogs will receive the same training experience.

Responsibilities

  • Creating a safe and nurturing environment for our dog students
  • Providing foundation training for our dog students
  • Delivering high-quality care for our dog students
  • Interacting with and supervising dogs while in playgroup
  • Taking the dogs out for walks and potty breaks
  • Providing food, water, basic grooming and medicine for dogs according to the schedule
  • Keeping records of the dogs’ daily activities
  • Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our dog students
  • Providing front desk and admin support, including pet registrations, customer emails and phone inquiries.
  • Other duties that may be assigned when needed

Requirements

  • Compassionate and enjoy caring for dogs
  • Willing to work shifts, night shifts, weekends and holidays when required
  • Advocate positive reward-based training methods and be willing to learn and practise our methods
  • Minimum Diploma in any field from a recognised education institution is preferred
  • Higher learning in Psychology, Children's Education or Veterinary Technology is an advantage
  • Prior work experience at Pet Daycare, Boarding Facility, Hospitality, Service Industry or Veterinary Clinic is a plus
  • Professional & mature attitude with a good work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Reliable & detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with being active and on the feet - this is not a desk job
  • Proficient in English with good verbal and written skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
