We are seeking for this position for the period 6th October 2025 to 29th March 2026.

JOB DESCRIPTION:PE Teaching Assistant (Maternity Cover)

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Head of Faculty PE/Sports

Overall Purpose:

The main purposes of this job are to:

● Support class teachers in the teaching and welfare of all children to ensure they attain their targets

● Support departmental administration tasks

● Support the sports programme

Specific Responsibilities:

● Assist teachers with learning activities ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils

● Support the pupils, either individually or in groups, in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher or Head of Faculty to enable pupils’ progress towards their targets

● Carry out administration tasks as directed by Head of Faculty

● Be aware of pupils’ individual needs and equal access to opportunities to learn and develop

● Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person to ensure pupils’ wellbeing

● Contribute to the overall work/aims of the school and appreciate and support the role of colleagues and other professionals to enable the school fulfil its development plans

● Generally, the work hours are 8am to 4.30am on all school days

General Responsibilities:

● Set up resources / materials / equipment for lessons

● Support structured and practical activities for groups or on a one-to-one basis

● Support sports coaches in preparing resources

● Involved in coaching and covering coaches in CCA activities

● Attend sporting fixtures as a representative of the school

● Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials and equipment to enable delivery of lessons and sports trainings

● Safely and securely store allocated equipment

● Clean and undertake maintenance of equipment as needed and as directed to ensure that it is clean and in good working order

● Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality. (training given)

● Have the ability to relate well to children and adults, understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly

● Good influencing skills to encourage pupils to interact with others and be socially responsible

Person Specification:

● O’ Level (or equivalent) Mathematics and English at C or above or equivalent level 2 qualification

● Good ICT skills

● Ability to exchange of information both verbally and in writing with staff and suppliers

● Knowledge of appropriate use of sporting equipment and materials and ability to communicate this knowledge to staff and pupils

● Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality
