Job description

The Opportunity

  • Adecco is working with a leading bank to find a 12-month contract Payroll Specialist.

This is a key role in the Human Resource operations function. The primary responsibility is to support the payroll functionality of the in-house payroll team, processing payroll for employees in Singapore using the ADP/SAP payroll system. This position carries out all tasks associated with a busy payroll office while adhering to legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Process monthly payroll including preparation activities for all New Hires, Leavers, and Employee Life Cycle changes.
  • Prepare all manual payments outside the normal pay run for post-pay payments, i.e., tax and manual termination pays.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of payroll clearing accounts and general ledger related activities for submission to risk management.
  • Assist in documenting all key payroll-related procedures with periodic reviews to ensure internal and regulatory requirements are maintained.
  • Adhere to payroll governance processes and perform 4-eye checks based on segregation of duties across different team members.
  • Assist payroll manager, supporting the team for payroll processing activities as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service in responding to employees' payroll queries, including providing relevant advisory.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all payroll-related legislation requirements for Singapore.
  • Possess strong knowledge in monthly and year-end tax and tax clearance processes.
  • Participate in country/regional initiatives on alignment and payroll processes, sharing best practices across regional payroll teams.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a payroll or finance-related environment.
  • Good knowledge of SAP Payroll or other payroll systems and Workday.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels, both face-to-face and non-face-to-face.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and demonstrate initiative and proactiveness.
  • Ability to work with discretion on confidential information.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Experience in processing Singapore payroll in-house and income tax submission.
  • Experience in account reconciliation.
  • Strong knowledge of pension, tax, and payroll-related employment matters.
