Payroll Specialist

Salt is hiring a ‘Payroll Specialist’ who would own all operational aspects across Japan, India, Thailand, and the Philippines and is perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and is eager to continually evolve and innovate the way we conduct business.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for monthly payroll activities, collating and validating inputs and statutory payments for assigned countries.
2. Coordinate with payroll vendors for timely and accurate payments and filing of taxes, social security funds, and any other third-party payments related to payroll.
3. Manage payroll vendors and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
4. Manage payroll inquiries from internal and external stakeholders through the internal ticketing system and provide advice.
5. Participate in and support new process implementations or enhancements and perform user acceptance testing, including vendor transitions.
6. Update and maintain the workflow for the assigned countries.
7. Own and drive process improvement initiatives for assigned countries.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll processing/operations with accounting knowledge.
3. Expertise in end-to-end payroll, including validation, compliance, and SOX control.
4. Familiarity with payroll operations, tax regulations, and labor laws in Japan, India, Philippines, and Thailand.
5. Proven ability to handle multiple payroll entities with diverse requirements.
6. Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication; skilled in handling confidential materials and comfortable asking for clarification.
8. Adaptable to a fast-paced, culturally diverse environment; effective under pressure and tight deadlines.
9. Team player with strong stakeholder management.
