Payroll Specialist proactively supports the execution and processing of the payroll function and performs a wide range of more complex payroll tasks for APAC. This individual uses their extensive experience to contribute to the management, direction, control and processing of the payroll function and all other payroll related duties. This position assists with administering payrolls including month-end consolidation and processing support as required.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees, including calculations, deductions, and adjustments.
- Accountable for the entry and maintenance of payroll data in payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Support the administration of employee benefits, including deductions, enrolments, and changes.
- Analyse timekeeping systems to ensure accurate tracking of employee work hours.
- Accountable for reconciling payroll data and resolving discrepancies to maintain data accuracy.
- Accountable for conducting regular audits of payroll records and reports to identify and address errors.
- Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and payments.
- Support the preparation of payroll reports, including pay statements, tax reports, and other relevant documents.
- Accountable for maintaining accurate payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and changes.
- Accountable for computation and submission of employee income taxes and tax clearance.
- Accountable for statutory submissions and claims.
- Liaise with internal/external auditors, government bodies and tax authorities as necessary.
- Responsible for submission of payroll reports to Finance when required.
- Contribute ideas for process improvements and automation to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Support payroll-related projects, system upgrades, and process enhancements.
- Effectively communicate with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related matters.
- Accountable for organizing and maintaining payroll documentation for audits and recordkeeping.
- Stay updated on payroll regulations and best practices through ongoing learning.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical behaviour when handling sensitive payroll information.
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees with payroll inquiries and concerns.
- Support HR teams with the alignment and implementation of complex payroll systems.
- Perform any other related task as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- Knowledge of employment regulations, labour laws, overtime laws, and employment standards.
- Ability to analyze payroll data, identifying trends or discrepancies, and generating insights.
- Proficient in time and attendance systems for tracking employee work hours.
- Proficient in using payroll software and HRIS systems for accurate data management and reporting.
- Good understanding of payroll tax regulations, reporting and compliance requirements.
- Expert knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes, including calculations, deductions, wage garnishments, and reporting.
- Strong background in managing complex payroll cycles, calculations, and deductions is essential.
- Good understanding of benefit deductions, contributions, and integrating benefits into payroll processing.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, HR, and finance to ensure accurate payroll.
- Proficient in conducting payroll audits, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Precision in processing payroll data, ensuring accuracy in calculations and records.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience required.
- Minimum 5-8 years of Human Resources and administrative experience.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS (Workday) is preferred.
- Experience with outsourced payroll vendors required.

- Able to work in global time zones.
