Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, bake, and plate a variety of pastries and bakeries following Candlenut’s recipes and standards.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in all pastry items.
  • Work closely with the Pastry Chef and kitchen team to execute daily service efficiently.
  • Assist in developing new pastry items that complement Candlenut’s Peranakan cuisine.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry section.
  • Uphold hygiene and food safety regulations as per SFA standards.
  • Monitor ingredient inventory, assist in ordering, and ensure proper storage.
  • Assist in special events, private dining, and catering requests when required.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting and respecting fellow teammates.
  • Be open to learning and refining pastry techniques to elevate your craft.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year in similar capacity and experience.
  • A culinary school certification or a diploma is a plus. Practical experience and basic education will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in a pastry or bakery kitchen is preferred.
  • Passion for pastry-making and a keen interest in Peranakan flavors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with precision and efficiency.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to check freshness of food and ingredients prior to cooking.
  • Substantial knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
