Job summary

A local service provider in Singapore seeks a contract-based support role for school teachers. Responsibilities include preparing science practical lessons, maintaining the school garden, and assisting with after-school programs. Candidates must have a minimum GCE O Level qualification and strong English skills. Experience in a school environment is preferred. This is a full-time position for 1 year with potential for extension.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a school environment is preferable.
  • Experience in administration, laboratory work, and customer service is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with handling young children (7-12 years old).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up apparatus for science practical lessons.

Job description

Supporting school teachers in the following:

  1. Preparation and Support for Science Practical Lessons:
    Prepare and set up apparatus and resources for science practical lessons. Be present during practical lessons to support teachers during lab demonstrations or group work. Facilitate activities in small groups. Monitor resources and make recommendations for lessons. Test resources and share feedback with teachers or Science Subject Representatives. Record items needed for purchase to optimize budget use. Conduct stock takes of apparatus and materials, dispose of redundant items, and inform the teacher-in-charge for replenishment. Enhance the appearance of Science rooms with displays of charts and student work. Support Math and Science Departments in after-school lessons for Olympiad and E2K programs. Prepare teaching and learning resources such as cutting, lamination, signage for Science garden, and sorting of kits. Accompany students on learning journeys. Maintain the school garden, including watering, composting, and hydroponics. Clean and maintain Science rooms.
  2. Additional Support and Duties: Support any work beyond stipulated hours as necessary, with prior communication and agreement. Perform other duties as assigned by the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Minimum GCE O Level qualification.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a school environment is preferable. Experience in administration, laboratory work, and customer service is a bonus. Familiarity with handling young children (7-12 years old).
  • Skills and Knowledge: Good command of English (spoken and written). Basic computing skills in Word and Excel. Knowledge of primary science activities, curriculum, and environmental science activities such as gardening and hydroponics.
  • Personal Attributes: Responsible, diligent, friendly, service-oriented. Ability to work well with others and foster a cooperative environment. Interest in gardening is a plus.

Duration / Working Hours: 1-year contract (with an option to extend 2 years) from 2 Jan 2026 to 31 Dec 2026. Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 am to 1:30 pm (30 hours/week for 42 weeks, totaling 1260 hours/year). No work on weekends or public holidays.
