Part-Time Lecturer

The School of Social Sciences is looking for a part-time lecturer for the module “Theory and Method in Social Research”. He/She will be responsible to teach advanced-level research methods module to PhD and Masters by research students, prepare course syllabus and readings, deliver lectures and seminar sessions, engage students in research projects, conduct lab sessions, grade assignments, train students to equip them with advanced research skills and prepare research students with skills to conduct independent research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching Duties: Conduct lectures, seminars and lab sessions. Upload lecture materials and course information in physical and online settings e.g. NTULearn, handle students’ queries on course matters.
• Course Assignment Duties: Set course materials and readings, set assessment components and grading rubrics, mark students’ assignments and projects, assess students’ research reports and oral presentations, grade students’ continuous assessment and examination marks and attend Board of Examiners meeting to discuss and moderate marks.

Key Requirements:

• PhD degree in Social Sciences and in Sociology discipline
• Extensive academic and research experience
• Effective coordination skills (with other instructors and students)
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong ability in facilitating classroom-based and online learning
