Job summary

UWCSEA Dover is seeking a qualified and experienced part-time Teacher of High School Chinese, with strong experience in teaching Chinese A / First Language Chinese, ideally from January 2027. The appointee will teach High School First Language and Language Acquisition Chinese, and contribute to the development of the department.

The role requires collaboration within a large Chinese department and broader Languages team, with a commitment to concept-based teaching and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• A good degree and a recognised teaching qualification or certification.
• Experience teaching IB Chinese A: Language and Literature and IB Chinese B is highly desirable.
• Ability to engage with students in a multicultural, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Chinese and High School teams.
• Design learning experiences that challenge diverse learners and emphasize concept-based teaching and learning.
• Provide timely, formative and summative feedback on assessments.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management across academic, social and emotional dimensions.
• Keep parents informed about student learning and maintain proactive communication.
• Engage in ongoing Professional Learning and contribute to curriculum development.
• Support pastoral responsibilities including mentoring groups.
• Participate in Activities and Service and Outdoor Education as part of UWCSEA commitments.
• Commit to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in teaching practices.
