PALS Coordinator to oversee and provide clinical support services dedicated to improving workplace mental health and management of traumatic incidents through the provision of consultation, training, counselling and care for employees under the HSDP project Comprehensive Staff Crisis Management System.
The counselor will also be responsible for helping patients manage and overcome mental and emotional issues. The counsellor will also work with individuals and their family members, linking them up with community resources.
PALS Coordinator
Respond to workplace incidents affecting employees’ mental health.
Deploy peer supporters to attend to reported incidents.
Monitor incident progression and make necessary recommendations.
Provide supportive counselling to staff as and when appropriate.
Provide advice and support to Management in areas related to staff welfare and crisis intervention.
Develop policies and Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) for Peer Support Programme (PSP).
Oversee and supervise PSP members and PSP activities.
Contribute to the on-going development of PSP.
Provide supervision and advice to team leaders and members.
Provide support, debriefing or information to team members.
Assist in the initial and on-going training of team members.
Plan and conduct training courses, workshops and talks related to workplace mental health and crisis management for employees.
Plan and prepare budgets for fiscal submission and ensure that budgets are objectively utilised and within the forecasted amount.
In the event of a Civil Disaster/ Emergency/ Crisis: Staff is also required to assume the below roles and responsibilities.
Oversee the operation of the peer support crisis team during the activation.
Collaborate with Emergency Operation.
Schedule group crisis interventions where needed e.g. Defusing, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD).
Provide emotional support to crisis members.
Arrange for operational and psychological debriefings with the activated crisis team members after stand down.
Counselor
To provide counselling, education and empowerment for patients and caregivers on the management of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, with the aim to enhance motivation and treatment adherence.
To collaborate with and support caregivers and community partners to enhance their management related to patients’ recovery.
To offer case management for select patients with acute or chronic psychiatric conditions and identified as high risk of causing harm to oneself or/and others.
Following up with patients in person or through phone calls.
Following up with caregivers in person or through phone calls.
Triaging of new cases for best possible patient care.
Doing home visits if additional care is needed.
Liaising with external agencies for arrangement of extended care for patients.
Liaising with other departments for arrangement of care for patients.
Developing a treatment plan that may include counselling, medication adherence or other recovery programs.
Assisting patients through difficult life changes and challenges.
Maintaining good working relationships with support networks, government resources and community resources.
To conduct talks and workshops for public/ professionals/ interested groups.
Skills in family counselling and therapy skills would be preferred.
Involvement in other departmental/ hospital programmes.
To participate in research in collaboration with other specialists.
To undertake any special duties as assigned by CEO, CMB, COO, HOD and supervisor.
Masters in Counselling, Psychology, or Social work preferred.
