The Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Scheme, co-funded by MOE and SIT, supports exceptional Singaporeans pursuing academic careers at SIT.

The Overseas PhD Scholarship offers financial support for overseas PhD studies, academic guidance, and mentorship, aiming to attract outstanding graduates and industry professionals. Successful scholars may join SIT as Assistant Professors after completing their PhD.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Singapore citizen
  • Second upper-class honours degree or equivalent in relevant fields
  • Preferred: three years of industry experience (five years for Health Sciences)
  • Strong passion for teaching and research

Scholars will be assigned a faculty mentor and participate in faculty development programs. The scholarship lasts five years.

Service Commitment

5 years at SIT after PhD completion; mid-term awardees commit to 1 year per sponsorship year.
