Job summary

KLA is seeking a senior optical engineer to manage alignment equipment and drive integration improvements for the latest wafer inspection tools. The role includes leading a small team, coordinating with manufacturing, quality and purchasing, and ensuring reliable optical subsystem performance.

Required are a PhD/masters in Physics or Optics and hands-on experience with opto-mechanical assembly, alignment and testing.

Qualifications

PhD or equivalent in Physics or Optics with relevant work experience.
Hands-on assembly, alignment, calibration, and testing of opto-mechanical subsystems.
Experience with optical testing equipment (interferometers, autocollimators, alignment telescopes, spectrometers).
Ability to lead manufacturing procedures and a team in assembling, aligning, calibrating and testing optical systems.
Strong PM, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Manage optical alignment equipment and related alignment methodology for the latest generation of optical wafer inspection tools.
Identify ways to improve yield and predictability of the optical integration process.
Participate in the integration and troubleshooting of the manufacturing issues of the optical systems and subsystems.
Work with suppliers to resolve component/part quality problems in a timely manner.
Assist Quality and Purchasing departments in driving supplier quality improvements and cost reductions.
