Overview

An Ophthalmic Investigation Technologist supports ophthalmologists in conducting various eye examinations that are crucial for diagnosing and treating patients' eye conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of ophthalmologists to assist in the diagnosis of ocular conditions
  • Conduct a range of ophthalmic tests for different conditions, such as glaucoma screenings, pre-operative cataract assessments, and other investigative procedures
  • Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining inventory and ordering medical supplies
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of diagnostic testing equipment
  • Maintain patient records, including medical history and test results
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet required investigation competencies in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
  • Minimum of a diploma, preferably in a science-related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Essential qualities include discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Enjoys working with patients
  • Basic knowledge of eye anatomy is beneficial but not mandatory, as on-the-job training will be provided
