Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline in Singapore is seeking an Operations Technician to lead day-to-day production activities, coach operators, and collaborate with engineers and quality teams to ensure safe, compliant and reliable supply. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring a production team.
  • Clear written and spoken English with strong record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shift production activities during the day to meet safety, quality and output targets.
  • Set-up, changeovers and handovers with proper procedures and documentation.
  • Coach and mentor junior technicians and operators through on-the-job training and feedback.
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance and preventive tasks with hand tools; work with engineers for complex fixes.
  • Support investigations into operational issues, gather evidence and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead small improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce waste or improve quality.
  • Take ownership for safe and compliant operations across your area daily.
  • Ensure batch records, logbooks and documents meet GMP/d documentation standards.
  • Run effective shift handovers and team briefings to keep work coordinated and transparent.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality and materials to resolve issues and maintain supply.
  • Maintain housekeeping and ensure site safety and cleanliness.

Job description

You will join our Singapore manufacturing team as an Operations Technician. You will lead day‑to‑day production activities, coach operators, and work with engineers and quality colleagues to ensure safe, compliant and reliable supply. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Perform shift production activities during the day shift to meet safety, quality and output targets.
  • Perform set‑up, changeovers and handovers while ensuring correct procedures and documentation are followed.
  • Coach and mentor junior technicians and operators through on‑the‑job training and feedback.
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance and preventative tasks using hand tools and work with engineers for complex fixes.
  • Support investigations into operational issues, gather evidence, and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Suggest and lead small improvement projects that increase efficiency, reduce waste or improve quality.
  • Take ownership for safe and compliant operations across your area each day.
  • Ensure batch records, logbooks and other documents are accurate and meet good documentation practice.
  • Run effective shift handovers and team briefings to keep work coordinated and transparent.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality and materials colleagues to resolve issues and maintain supply.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work areas meet site safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Help lead readiness activities for campaigns, trials or new process transfers as required.
Basic Qualification
  • NITEC, ITE, Polytechnic diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing, production, or technical trades.
  • Practical experience operating and maintaining production or utility equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring team members in a production environment.
  • Clear written and spoken English and strong record‑keeping skills.
  • Able to work full time on‑site during the day shift and support handovers as required.
Preferred Qualification
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and strong quality mindset.
  • Experience with basic troubleshooting tools and root‑cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with materials handling equipment and inventory practices.
  • Basic computer literacy for recording data and using production systems.
  • Interest in progressing into technical specialist, process support or supervisory roles.
