Job summary

SCIENTEC CONSULTING PTE. LTD. is seeking an Operations Support Engineer to join a Singapore public sector product development team. You will provide L1-L3 support for an internal product, ensuring reliability, stability and uptime, and collaborating with developers, product managers and user support teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• Proven experience as an Operations Engineer or IT support role.
• Experience implementing ITSM workflows (Zendesk/ServiceDesk) and automation.
• Experience implementing security and access controls for privileged test/production environments.
• Experience with full-stack monitoring using APM tools; CloudWatch familiarity preferred.
• Experience automating processes with scripting/IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible).
• Knowledge of Agile/DevOps practices and security requirements.
• Certifications in AWS/Azure/Google Cloud or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with AWS AI services and data lake workflows (RAG, tool calling).

Responsibilities

Operations Support Engineer | AWS | AI Applications

Working Hours: Mon-Fri (Hybrid)

Remuneration: Up to $11,000 + AWS

Employment Type: Contract (1 year renewable with chances of conversion)

Job Overview

We are looking for an Operations Support Engineer to join a Singapore public sector organisation's product development team. The organisation adopts an agile approach to software development and is committed to adopting best practices and tools used by leading technology companies.

This role sits within the main development team and provides L1, L2, and L3 (code-level) support for an internal product. The Operations Support Engineer is responsible for the reliability, stability, and efficiency of the technical infrastructure - working closely with developers, product managers, and user support teams to identify and resolve issues that could impact system performance. This role is key to maintaining high system up time and service levels for end users.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse the performance of product runtime environments (production and non-production) to ensure optimal system performance, and develop data-driven strategies for continuous improvement, in collaboration with application teams, solution architects, security consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Work closely with business users to set up AWS Quick environments to support AI use cases.
• Manage application and security incidents; conduct problem determination; coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues within SLA; escalat? (correct full text): "escalate to management or the incident committee as needed."
• Develop operations and process guides to ensure all aspects of operations are documented and compliant with audit requirements.
• Manage day-to-day operational activities, analyse statistics, and prepare status/progress reports for stakeholders and management.
• Support the operations team (staff and vendors) in delivering 24/7 coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in an Operations Engineer or similar IT support role.
• Experience implementing change and incident management workflows using ITSM tools (e.g. Zendesk, ServiceDesk); experience automating such workflows is an advantage.
• Experience implementing security and access control measures for privileged access to test and production environments.
• Experience implementing full-stack monitoring (application and infrastructure) using Application Performance Management (APM) tools; familiarity with cloud-native monitoring (e.g. CloudWatch) preferred.
• Experience identifying and implementing process automation to reduce downtime and human error; familiarity with scripting/IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible preferred.
• Experience with agile methodologies, DevOps pipelines, test-driven development, and information security practices.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure and services; certification in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in AWS ecosystem services and development of AI applications, demonstrating proficiency in RAG, tool calling, workflow automation, and data lakes, is highly advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
