Job description

We are seeking a highly specialised Operations Manager to develop and launch a niche, artisanal Australian/New Zealand-style pastry and pies food concept. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding and appreciation of Australian and New Zealand-style pastries, pies, fusion cuisine, and pastry innovation and experience scaling an innovative F&B brand across multiple markets.

This role is well-suited for a dynamic entrepreneur with a proven track record in launching, managing, and expanding a high-growth food brand that blends Asian and Western culinary traditions.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Concept Development

  • Oversee the artisanal pastry and pie concept, ensuring authenticity and high-quality standards.
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop and refine specialty pastry formulations.
  • Lead the research and development of unique filling combinations that merge Southeast Asian and Australian/New Zealand flavours.
Operational Excellence as a Sales Strategy

Drive sales by embedding a strong operational foundation that ensures consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction.

  • Champion day-to-day excellence across kitchen and front-of-house operations to ensure every product is served at its best.
  • Use service flow, prep systems, and mise en place structures to reduce waste, shorten wait times, and enhance the guest experience.
  • Translate operational insights into better sales performance by refining what works: from popular pie fillings to peak-hour prep strategies.
  • Leverage POS and sales data to inform batch sizing, pastry production, and product assortment based on demand patterns.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control, recognising that consistent product execution directly impacts guest trust and repeat visits.

Business Strategy & Expansion

  • Craft and execute a market entry strategy for artisanal pastries and pies in Singapore.
  • Establish partnerships with specialty supermarkets, gourmet grocers, and high-end cafes to distribute products.
  • Drive brand awareness and market validation through pop-ups, collaborations, and events.

Operations & Supply Chain Management

  • Set up and manage production workflows specific to handmade artisanal pastries and pies.
  • Oversee logistics, cold chain distribution, and event catering operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations while optimising supply chain efficiency.

Marketing & Sales

  • Implement omnichannel sales strategies, including online, retail, wholesale, and event-based sales.
  • Lead brand positioning efforts to differentiate the product as a premium, artisanal offering.
  • Engage influencers and media to promote the brand and products.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work hands-on in kitchen trials and production runs.
  • A network of existing connections in the Australian, New Zealand and Singapore artisanal food scene is preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours based on event schedules, market demands, and production needs.
  • Familiarity with Australian, New Zealand and Southeast Asian culinary trends.
