Job description

Key Responsibilities


  • Monitor the progress of voyages and ensure the seamless execution of dry bulk shipments.
  • Coordinate with Masters, charterers, agents, and port stakeholders on daily operational matters.
  • Manage voyage documentation, including Notices of Readiness (NOR), Statements of Facts (SOF), Bills of Lading (B/L), laytime statements, and other relevant documents.
  • Track fuel consumption, ROB reports, and overall vessel performance.
  • Provide support in emergency response and operational troubleshooting, such as addressing delays, breakdowns, and port-related issues.
  • Independently handle contentious matters in collaboration with relevant parties, including charterers and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiating with underwriters for the renewal and endorsements of H&M, P&I, War Risk, LOH, K&R, USCOFR, and ICB policies.
  • Independently managing claim-related issues and cases in collaboration with P&I clubs, H&M underwriters, and legal counsel, including arbitration proceedings.
  • Preparing necessary documentation and overseeing the entire claims process from initiation to resolution.
  • Monitoring insurance cost forecasts and maintaining accurate policy records.
  • Reviewing charter party clauses pertaining to insurance and liabilities to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Job Requirements

  • A recognized Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping Management, Maritime Law, International Trade, Insurance, or related fields; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the dry bulk voyage cycle, port operations, laytime calculations, and ROB monitoring is essential.
  • Working knowledge of marine insurance (Hull & Machinery, Protection & Indemnity, War Risk), including experience in claims handling and policy coordination, is required.
  • The ability to interpret and apply charter party terms (e.g., NYPE, GENCON) and support reviews of risk and insurance clauses is crucial.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the capacity to thrive in high-pressure, multi-tasking environments are key attributes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, along with document and data management practices, is expected.
  • A high level of professional integrity and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard office hours occasionally, as dictated by vessel schedules, is necessary.
