Department Overview: The management of operational risk is a key business priority for Nomura and is vital to the successful delivery of the firm's strategy. The AEJ Operational Risk Management Team is an independent risk management group (second line of defence) overseeing and ensuring risk management at the Firm level.

Role Overview: The Analyst Operational Risk Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of the operational risk management framework within the organization. This role helps identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks across various business units.

Risk Assessment & Monitoring
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments/ deep dives and identifying potential operational risks.
  • Consolidate and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk metrics to identify potential operational risks/ issues in the functions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of risk registers.
  • Participate in risk control self‑assessments (RCSAs).
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare regular and accurate operational risk reports for senior management.
  • Maintain operational risk documentation and procedures.
  • Track and report on risk mitigation activities.
Process Improvement
  • Support the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and control enhancement.
  • Assist in timely implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with business units to identify and assess operational risks.
  • Provide guidance on risk management practices to stakeholders.
  • Support training initiatives related to operational risk management.
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management or control function within an investment bank.
  • Proven experience of working on cash equities and vanilla equity products for at least 2 years.
  • Experience and understanding of operational risk management principles and frameworks along with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment products, and trading strategies specific to Asia markets.
  • Professional certifications e.g. FRM, CRM, PRM of CSIA would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electronic trading, OMS/EMS, FIX protocol, and trading protocols.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
