Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KVM platforms.
• Perform proactive platform health checks, monitoring, and capacity management.
• Execute platform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
• Manage OpenShift backup and restore operations.
• Provision, migrate, optimize, and decommission virtual machines.
• Monitor and tune virtual machine performance.
• Support workload placement and resource utilization management.
• Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Perform Linux patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Manage platform-level incidents, changes, problem records, and root cause analyses.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible.

Role Summary

The OpenShift Virtualization / KVM Platform Engineer is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KVM infrastructure supporting customer production environments. The role focuses on platform stability, lifecycle management, performance optimization, security compliance, automation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration

• Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KVM platforms.
• Perform proactive platform health checks, monitoring, and capacity management.
• Execute platform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
• Manage OpenShift backup and restore operations.

Virtualization Operations

• Provision, migrate, optimize, and decommission virtual machines.
• Monitor and tune virtual machine performance.
• Support workload placement and resource utilization management.
• Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues and performance bottlenecks.

Linux & Infrastructure Support

• Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• Perform Linux patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Security & Compliance

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
