Job summary

SKS MARINE SERVICES PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a capable Electrical Engineer Assistant to support the design, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems on marine projects.

You will work under the Senior Engineer to ensure technical accuracy and safety. Responsibilities include helping with load calculations, drawings in CAD, equipment selection, site inspections, and coordinating with project teams to keep works on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in planning, design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Support calculations including load schedules, voltage drop, short-circuit and protection studies where required.
• Prepare electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, layouts, and CAD documentation.
• Assist with selection and specification of electrical equipment, materials, cables, protection devices, and related components.
• Assist with protective relay settings, electrical system configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor electrical installations and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable standards.
• Assist in testing, commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
• Coordinate with other engineers, supervisors, technicians, workers, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure smooth execution of works.
• Identify electrical faults, defects, and technical issues and assist in implementing suitable corrective actions.
• Monitor project materials and equipment requirements, including checking inventory, identifying shortages, and assisting with material procurement.
• Assist in monitoring project costs and ensuring electrical works and material usage remain within the allocated budget.
• Maintain proper records of inspection reports, testing and commissioning documents, drawings, equipment information, and other engineering documentation.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and assist in scheduling repairs and servicing of electrical equipment.
• Ensure all electrical works are carried out in accordance with company procedures, workplace safety requirements, quality standards, and relevant codes and regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments and engineering teams when required.
• Participate in technical meetings, toolbox meetings, training, workshops, and other learning activities to develop engineering knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager.
