JOB SUMMARY

The Fuel Oil & Gasoil Analyst provides fundamental and quantitative analysis of the fuel oil and gasoil markets. The role supports trading decisions by delivering timely insights into market trends, supply/demand balances, price forecasts, and arbitrage opportunities across regional and global markets.

THE ROLE

Market Fundamentals & Research
Monitor and analyze global and regional supply-demand trends for VLSFO, HSFO, and gasoil.
Track refinery runs, product yields, shipping trends, and crude slate impacts.
Maintain databases and models of fuel oil and gasoil balances, inventories, and trade flows.

Price & Arbitrage Analysis
Track spot and forward curves for relevant benchmarks (e.g., Singapore, Rotterdam, Fujairah, NYH).
Analyze refining margins and crack spreads.
Identify pricing dislocations and arbitrage opportunities between regions.

Forecasting & Reporting
Produce regular and ad-hoc reports on market outlooks, price forecasts, and trading signals.
Collaborate with trading desks to assess market positioning and risk.
Contribute to internal research publications and presentations.

Market Intelligence
Engage with industry contacts including traders, brokers, shipping analysts, and refineries.
Monitor regulatory changes (IMO, emissions, biofuel blending mandates) affecting fuel oil and gasoil demand.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Energy, Engineering, Finance, or related fields
2 to 5 years of experience in oil market analysis, trading, or research in oil trading sector
Strong knowledge of refined products, especially fuel oil and gasoil
Excellent Excel and data analysis skills. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or Power BI is a plus
Experience with Platts, Argus, Bloomberg, or Kpler data
Understanding of shipping markets (VLCC, MR, bunkering)
Ability to work under tight deadlines and communicate insights clearly to trading teams
