Job Description:
The candidate will need Network Security infrastructure knowledge, with 1-2 years of experience preferred.
They should have organizational and process improvement skills, along with a basic understanding of Network and Security DMZ infrastructure.
As a Junior Engineer, you will shadow our External Networks expert in their daily activities, learning about different external network technologies, starting with DDI/LB, then Firewalls, and finally Threat Prevention. After a few months, you are expected to become a junior external network engineer in your preferred scope.
You will oversee various processes within the External Networks team and work towards merging processes and tools used by DDI/LB, Perimeter, and Threat Prevention team members.
Responsibilities include:
- Learning about external network technologies to eventually advance to an Engineer position.
- Collaborating with project managers, application owners, and operations teams.
- Ensuring smooth service transition to operations.
- Updating documentation to reflect environment changes and successfully handing over to Operations.
- Assisting with change templates and automation of modification operations.
- Liaising with Information Security partners to enforce compliance with standards.
- Supporting activities related to audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory exams.
- Managing the external networks documentation repository.
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Network Security Data Center and DMZ infrastructure and their interconnections.
- Understanding of change management principles, techniques, and tools.
- Experience with ITSM tools and reporting.
- Experience with documentation repository tools.
- An interest in process continuous improvement.
- Understanding of Network Automation tools and processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- A positive attitude, stakeholder management skills, and adaptability to change.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with BMC Remedy and/or ServiceNow ticketing systems.
- Familiarity with Confluence, SharePoint, Wiki, or other documentation tools.
- Basic knowledge of Load Balancers, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and Threat Prevention.
- Attention to detail, confidence to raise questions, and escalation when necessary.
- Understanding of network routing and switching principles.
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience with automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, Ansible, including API calls to ticketing systems and network devices, and frontend web development.
- Experience working within Financial Services (Insurance, Banking, Investment Banking).
- ITIL Foundation certification would be a plus.
