Job summary

WECRUIT PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks an occupational therapist to provide patient-centered assessments and interventions for nursing home residents, tailoring plans to individual goals.

• Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to nursing home residents.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care meetings and contribute OT input to care planning.
• Supervise Therapy Assistants and volunteers involved in therapy activities.
• Maintain effective communication with rehabilitation and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in training and development of therapy aides, volunteers and caregivers.
• Support department administrative functions and report workload statistics.
• Contribute to service improvement projects and departmental quality initiatives.

Job description

Clinical Duties

• Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to residents in the nursing home, based on their individual needs and care goals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary patient review meetings and contribute relevant occupational therapy input to residents' care planning.
• Supervise and provide guidance to Therapy Assistants (TAs) and volunteers involved in relevant therapy activities.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with members of the rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care teams.

Education & Training

• Keep up to date with developments, evidence-based practices and advances in occupational therapy, and contribute to the ongoing development of the department.
• Participate in the training and development of therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and caregivers in areas relevant to their roles.
• Provide appropriate teaching, clinical guidance and supervision to Occupational Therapy students and Therapy Assistant students during clinical placements.
• Contribute to in-service education and knowledge-sharing for nursing staff on occupational therapy-related topics.
• Participate in relevant research, clinical development and service improvement projects.

Administrative Duties

• Provide appropriate service coverage and support for occupational therapy functions within the Allied Health Team when required.
• Maintain accurate departmental workload statistics and monthly incident reports, and submit relevant information to the Head of Allied Health and Senior Therapist-in-Charge.
• Provide relevant feedback and contribute to the appraisal and development of Therapy Assistants and Therapy Associates in accordance with organisational processes.

Other Duties

• Participate in departmental projects, interdepartmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in identifying service or operational issues and contribute to the recommendation and implementation of appropriate improvements.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Senior Therapist-in-Charge or Head of Allied Health.
