Job summary

Methodist Welfare Services is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide effective assessment and treatment for residents in our nursing home. You will participate in patient review meetings, supervise therapy assistants and volunteers, and maintain strong communication with the rehabilitation team.

The role emphasizes ongoing education and departmental development, training of aides and students, in-service education for nurses, and involvement in research projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• Full registration and AHPC licensure to practice in Singapore.
• Accreditation as AHPC supervisor is required/advantageous.
• At least 5 years of admin/managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for nursing home residents.
• Participate in Patient Review meetings with the team.
• Supervise therapy assistants and volunteers in relevant areas.
• Maintain good communication with the rehabilitation team.
• Cover duties of other Occupational Therapists within the Allied Health Team as needed.
• Provide workload statistics and incident reports to supervisors.

Education

Diploma/Degree in Health Science (Occupational Therapy)

AHPC Full registration and license to practice in Singapore

AHPC supervisor accreditation

5+ years administrative/managerial experience

Roles and Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• To provide effective Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for residents in the nursing home.
• To participate in Patient Review meeting with other team members.
• To supervise therapy assistants (TAs) and volunteers helping in relevant areas.
• To maintain good communication with all members of rehabilitation team.

Education and Training

• To keep abreast with advances in the profession and to contribute to the development of the department.
• To be involved in training of the therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and care-givers.
• To teach and supervise OT students and TA students in their clinical placements.
• To be involved in in-service education of the nurses in aspects related to occupational therapy.
• To participate in research projects.

Administrative Duties

• To cover the duties of the other Occupational Therapy in the Allied Health Team within the organization.
• To provide departmental workload statistic and monthly incident report to Head, Allied Health and Senior therapist in-charge in the center.
• To give input or/and appraise therapy assistant and therapy associate staff.

Other Duties

• To participate in projects within own department or in inter-departmental committees and quality improvement projects.
• Assist in identifying problem areas, recommend and implement improvements in the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned by senior therapist in-charge and Head, Allied Health

Qualifications, Competencies & Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Health Science (Occupational Therapy)
• Obtain Full registration and Licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council to practice in Singapore
• Accredited as a supervisor under the AHPC supervisory framework
• Preferably to have at least 5 years of administrative and/or managerial experiences
