Job summary

APSN in Singapore seeks an Occupational Therapist to assess and identify the needs of students/trainees with occupational therapy concerns and to customize suitable therapy programs.

You will perform assessments, design and facilitate motor/processing interventions, monitor progress, and document outcomes while collaborating with caregivers and a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy, preferably recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred; entry level considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment and motivation to work with young people with special needs and caregivers.
  • Good teamwork and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Experience with children and young adults with intellectual disability is an advantage.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments in relation to occupational needs of the students and document reports.
  • Formulate and facilitate intervention for students in motor and processing skills.
  • Evaluate therapy progress and outcomes using selected outcomes measures at regular intervals.
  • Conduct Vocational Profiling to align skills and interests with suitable tracks.
  • Conduct Community Partner Workshops for employers supporting persons with ASD and MID.
  • Plan and facilitate group programs for students.
  • Conduct work site assessments to determine placement suitability.
  • Support OST and WEP through workplace site visits.
  • Provide supervision/mentorship of OTA/OT student interns and conditional registered OTs.
  • Administrative duties: digitize OT reports and document clinical care.

Job description

You shall be responsible for assessing and identifying individual needs of students &/or trainees with occupational therapy issues and concerns. You will also formulate, develop and customise appropriate occupational therapy programs for the students &/or trainees.

Job Description
  • Carry out assessments in relation to occupational needs of the students and document reports
  • Formulate and facilitate intervention for students in the area of motor and processing skills
  • Evaluate therapy progress and outcomes with the use of selected therapy outcome measures at regular intervals (every 6 months).
  • Conduct Vocational Profiling Assessment for students to match their skills and interests to the appropriate vocational track
  • Conduct Community Partner Workshops such as Employers Education to create awareness for employers who are working and supporting persons with ASD and Mild Intellectual Disability (MID)
  • Planning and facilitate group programs
  • Conduct work site assessment to determine suitability for placement of students
  • Conduct work place site visits to support students on OST (On-Site Training) and WEP (Work Experience Program)
  • Provide Supervision and mentorship of OTA /OT Student Intern/ Conditional Registered OT
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Digitization of OT reports
  • Documentation of clinical duties
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent (preferably recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council)
  • Preferred at least 2 years clinical experience. However, Entry Level Candidates are welcomed to apply.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment and motivation to work with young person with special needs and their caregivers.
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant work experience with children and young adults with intellectual disability would be an advantage
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
