Job summary

A leading company is looking for a kitchen assistant in Jurong West to help with daily kitchen operations, maintain cleanliness, and assist in culinary lessons. Job description

Description:

Daily Duties:

  • Prepare and organize ingredients and equipment for lessons and exams.
  • Operate kitchen appliances and maintain kitchen cleanliness (e.g. sinks, cookers, floors).
  • Refill soap dispensers, manage cutlery, and handle food deliveries.
  • Assist teachers during lessons and help students operate kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure proper clean-up and storage after lessons, including equipment checks and food safety.
  • Perform laundry for kitchen linens and maintain inventory and filing of documents.

Weekly Duties (Fridays):

  • Deep clean cookers, ovens, sinks, fridges, and prep areas.
  • Take stock of food items and supplies, and report shortages.
  • Sanitize all student and teacher work areas including furniture and whiteboards.

School Holiday Duties:

  • Clear perishables, ensure utensils and equipment are cleaned and stored.
  • Conduct full kitchen cleaning, turn off utilities, and dispose of waste.
  • Perform stock-taking and spring cleaning of all NFS rooms, including the ALP room.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Minimum 3 GCE ‘O’ Level passes; relevant experience may be considered in lieu. Certification in food hygiene is a plus.
  • Skills: Competent in kitchen prep, food handling, storage, and equipment use. Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Excel, Word). Culinary skills preferred. Should be organized, able to multitask, work independently, and guide students with patience and good communication.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a similar role or in culinary/food handling.

Other Information:

Contract: 1st Jan 2026 - 31st Dec 2026 (Option to extend)

Working Location: Jurong West

Working Day: Monday - Friday
