RESPONSIBILITIES

The Nurse Educator takes the lead in designing, reviewing, and enhancing structured nursing courses and teaching methods. They coordinate and implement training programs to equip nurses and care staff with the skills needed to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and nursing standards. Additionally, they oversee nursing student postings and ensure clinical excellence by maintaining staff competency within their assigned ward.

You will need to:

  1. Conduct learning needs analysis to identify learning gaps and training needs of nurses and care staff.
  2. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes for nurses and care staff according to the learning needs identified.
  3. Design and develop/revise curriculum for nurses and nursing staff according to clinical and service needs and best practices.
  4. Develop and implement e-learning resources.
  5. Utilise effective teaching strategies to develop critical thinking and clinical reasoning among nurses and students.
  6. Direct and facilitate staff development, skills and competency upgrading through in-house training, approved online learning or formal education opportunities.
  7. Align continuing professional development programmes with national directives and research findings.
  8. Maintain training records according to institution and accreditation standards.
  9. Guide orientation/induction program and preceptorship for new staff.
  10. Lead Clinical Instructors to ensure nursing students achieve clinical learning goals.
  11. Facilitate students' objectives and the learning environment, and provide feedback to the students and the educational institutions.
  12. Ensure written policies are up to date to guide nursing practices.
  13. Work collaboratively with nursing supervisors to maintain clinical care and standards of nursing practices.
  14. Participate in both external and internal committees related to teaching and learning.
  15. Act as a resource person in education/nursing training and clinical issues to provide quality standards of care.
  16. Take on additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS

You should be:

  1. Locally Trained Registered Nurse with Advanced Diploma in Nursing/Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred.
  2. Foreign Trained Registered Nurse with Degree or Diploma in Nursing with Board Pass (Professional Regulation Council, PRC).
  3. Registration with Singapore Nursing Board.
  4. Certificate in Education and previous equivalent appointment of at least 3 years would be preferred.
