Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver music activities that support programme goals and target developmental outcomes for preschool children

  • Facilitate teacher-child interactions and encourage joyful music-making during sessions

  • Create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for music activities, including the use of instruments and group movement

  • Adapt music curriculum content and songs to meet the varying needs, interests, and abilities of children

  • Document lesson delivery through observations and post-activity reflections to inform future planning

  • Assess children’s progress toward learning outcomes using appropriate tools, including surveys and observation checklists

  • Compose and/or arrange simple original music and songs and perform or record them as part of the curriculum and teaching resources

  • Develop and curate a culturally diverse and age-appropriate repertoire of songs and musical materials that support inclusive classroom practices

  • Conduct professional development workshops for generalist teachers to build their confidence and competence in facilitating music activities

  • Participate in reflective practice through peer observation, feedback, and engagement in professional learning communities

  • Support the planning and execution of music-related events, such as performances, parent-child music workshops, and celebrations that strengthen home-school partnerships

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer (RO) or Head of Division(HOD)

Job Holder Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Music (Education/ Performance/ Therapy); or Diploma/Degree in other discipline AND O/A-level Music/ Music Elective Programme/ ABRSM Grade 8 Practical (or an equivalent)

  • Experience working with young children preferred

  • Able to sing in-tune and learn to play the ukulele

  • Interested in using music to support holistic child development

  • Proficiency in the use of Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) is an added advantage

  • Responsive to children’s non-verbal cues and communication

  • Able to improvise variations to music/ activities

  • Strong language skills

  • Creative and adaptable, bubbly, playful and patient

  • Able to use initiative and work independently

  • Believes in continuous learning to build personal capacity as a Music Associate
