MSc Research Associate

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated MSc Research Associate to join our R&D activities for CRISPR-Cas-based detection projects.

The successful candidate will work on assay development, optimization, and validation of CRISPR-Cas-based molecular diagnostics.

This role requires hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong passion for innovative research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize CRISPR-Cas-based detection assays for various targets
• Conduct molecular biology experiments, including nucleic acid extraction, amplification (PCR/RPA), and CRISPR-mediated detection
• Perform fluorescence and lateral flow-based readouts for assay validation
• Troubleshoot and improve assay sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility
• Enhance enzyme performance through directed evolution
• Analyse experimental data, prepare reports, and present findings to the team
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including bioinformatics and engineering groups
• Maintain accurate lab records and ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Contribute to scientific publications and patent filings as needed

Qualifications & Skills:

• MSc in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field
• Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, RT-PCR, and nucleic acid extraction
• Knowledge of CRISPR-Cas, in particular Cas12 and Cas13, technology and its applications in diagnostics
• Experience with isothermal amplification methods (e.g. RPA, LAMP)
• Familiarity with fluorescence-based or lateral flow detection methods
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools for CRISPR guide design
• Previous experience in an industry setting or translational research
• Experience in working with DNA/RNA detection and assay development
• Experience in enhancing enzyme performance through directed evolution
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
