Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Motion Planning Engineer to design and implement advanced path planning, trajectory optimization, and collision avoidance strategies for robotic manipulators in automated systems. This role focuses on developing high-performance motion planning solutions for single or multi-arm robots in dynamic factory environments, especially for pick-and-place and pick-and-assemble applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement motion planning algorithms for robotic arms in industrial pick-and-place and assembly applications.

  • Develop compliant and force-aware motion strategies to manage diverse payloads with varying physical properties.

  • Generate smooth, collision-free trajectories for complex manipulator tasks, including mobile and dual-arm systems.

  • Optimize motion planning to address constraints, dynamic obstacles, and real-time task adjustments.

  • Integrate motion planning systems with perception and control modules to enhance adaptability in real-world factory conditions.

  • Conduct simulations and real-world validation tests to improve robustness, safety, and deployment readiness.

  • Study and implement state-of-the-art motion strategies for pick-and-place and pick-and-assemble scenarios.

  • Perform robot teaching and simulation for manipulator deployment in new applications.

  • Program robots using both industrial languages (e.g., Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA) and general-purpose languages such as C/C#/C++, Python.

  • Prepare and maintain clear documentation including program code, technical reports, and system setup manuals.

Requirements:
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in robotic motion planning, kinematics, dynamics, and control.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and deploying custom pick-and-place or pick-and-assemble applications.

  • Strong knowledge of motion planning algorithms such as RRT, PRM, and CHOMP, as well as trajectory generation and optimization techniques.

  • Experience with multi-arm coordination, redundancy resolution, and task-space motion planning.

  • Familiarity with robotic simulators like Gazebo, MuJoCo, or Isaac Sim.

  • Knowledge of machine learning applications in adaptive motion planning and robotic grasping.

  • Proficiency in programming industrial robots or in languages such as C/C#/C++ and Python.

  • Working knowledge of ROS 1/2, Linux OS, and motion planning libraries such as OMPL, MoveIt!, and SBPL.

  • Added advantage: Any patents, publications, awards, or certifications related to robotics and automation.
