Job summary

National University Hospital in Singapore is seeking a clinical molecular diagnostician to perform routine testing and support the day-to-day operations of a CAP-accredited laboratory. The incumbent will participate in quality initiatives and gain exposure to emerging genetic technologies.

You will work with PCR, sequencing, LIS, and QA activities; must have a BSc in relevant field and good attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and communicate effectively in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Preferably 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience with molecular diagnostic testing preferred.
• Exposure to PCR, real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS workflows advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession and assess clinical specimens for suitability for molecular diagnostic testing according to established laboratory criteria.
• Perform routine molecular diagnostic procedures including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing, and NGS workflows.
• Operate the Laboratory Information System for test registration, result entry and verification.
• Adhere to SOPs, quality standards and turnaround-time requirements.
• Review quality metrics and escalate test failures or non-conformities.
• Communicate critical results to clinicians according to policy.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with accreditation.
