Your Job

Molex Singapore is seeking a Mold Design Engineer to join the team. As a Mold Design Engineer, you will be responsible for mold design, follow-up on fabrication, coordination with the tooling team for debugging and First-Off Tooling (FOT), product qualification, and transferring molds to production while maintaining the PAR rate. You will support team goals and objectives through various projects and assignments.

Our Team

This role involves collaboration with Product Engineers, Mold Design Engineers, Process Engineers, QA Engineers, Mold Makers, Tooling Supervisors, Assembly Engineers, and the Tool Room. External contacts include tooling vendors, molders, and material suppliers.

What You Will Do
  1. Review connector housing designs during design review meetings as per DFM and FMEA.
  2. Perform mold design and conduct mold design review meetings based on guidelines and Mold Design FMEA.
  3. Develop molds according to the development schedule to support new product launches and ramp-ups.
  4. Collaborate with the Tool Room on fabrication follow-up and debugging issues.
  5. Work closely with Debug and Process Engineers on FOT and mold qualification.
  6. Coordinate with external vendors for subcontracted molds, handling quotations, specifications, reviews, follow-ups, FA closure, and technical issues.
  7. Support molding improvements and pre-production runs.
  8. Maintain detailed documentation for mold design and development.
  9. Analyze new products for mold flow and warpage using CAE software.
  10. Participate in departmental focal points and projects.
  11. Engage in value creation activities to drive new technology and methodologies, GLSS, and JDI savings to reduce lead time, cost, and improve quality.
  12. Develop strategies for TTM/HMLV for low volume production with shorter lead times using standard mold bases and pocket designs.
  13. Reduce QN and QAP through tooling improvements.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  1. Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Plastic Technology.
  2. Minimum 3 to 6 years of experience in mold design, fabrication, and development of plastic molds.
  3. Good knowledge of CAE software, preferably Mold Flow.
  4. Strong collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external vendors.
What Will Put You Ahead
  1. Experience in connector mold design from the connector industry.
  2. Good knowledge of the molding process and plastic materials.
  3. Proficiency with value creation activities, such as GLSS and JDI savings.
  4. Proficiency with 3D NX Unigraphics & AutoCAD.
