Job summary

Qualifications

• GCE A-Level, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Education, History, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Strong historical knowledge and proficiency in source analysis and essay writing.
• Familiarity with the Singapore MOE Secondary History syllabus and assessment requirements.
• Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.
• Passion for teaching and supporting secondary school students.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
• Responsible, patient, enthusiastic, and committed to student success.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging History lessons aligned with the MOE secondary syllabus.
• Assess students’ learning needs and customise lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and exam skills.
• Teach significant historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points within contexts.
• Help students understand chronology, causation, change and continuity, and significance of developments.
• Develop students’ ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability and utility, compare perspectives, and identify purpose.
• Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with relevant evidence and clear arguments.
• Encourage students to examine different historical interpretations and form balanced conclusions.
• Mark assignments, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
• Develop students’ historical awareness, critical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.
• Create a positive, engaging learning environment and communicate progress to parents.
• Develop teaching resources, timelines, source materials, case studies, and exam practice activities.
