Job summary

ByteDance is seeking PhD candidates to contribute to the development of deep learning and operations research models for its global e-commerce logistics. The role focuses on building domain-specific AI capabilities, leveraging large-scale ecommerce data for continual pre-training and reinforcement learning, and deploying intelligent agents to diagnose and resolve complex user-facing and operational issues.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a PhD in a technical field related to software development, CS, or CE.
Proficient in ML/statistics with practical application experience.
Proficient in Python/Java and at least one ML/DL framework (TensorFlow/PyTorch).

Responsibilities

Develop deep learning and operations research models for global supply chain and logistics.
Pioneer domain-specific LLMs for Continual Pre-Training (CPT), SFT, and RL; design AI Agents for autonomous diagnosis and resolution.
Use big data and DL to predict ETA and logistics events to enhance user experience.
Apply time-series forecasting for demand, inventory and staffing projections.
Collaborate with merchant growth and pricing teams to optimize strategies and outcomes.
Predict traffic/conversion using ML to improve merchandising performance under cost targets.
