Job Responsibilities
Metrology Concepts and Tools
- Familiarity with various metrology tools like CD-SEM, AFM, XPS, ellipsometers, and wafer probes is essential.
- Understanding metrology concepts, such as critical dimensions (CD), thin-film thickness, and defect detection, is fundamental.
Equipment & Tooling Support
- Active part of defining metrology equipment specifications and validating tools.
- Work with supplier teams to monitor and maintain tool performance.
Data Analysis and Statistics
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Gage R&R methodology are highly valued.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., JMP).
- The ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes of problems, and develop effective solutions is crucial.
Programming Skills
- Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Matlab, JSL, C#, or similar is often required for data analysis, recipe development, and tool automation.
Hands-on Experience
- Practical experience in a laboratory or cleanroom environment, including working with metrology equipment and performing measurements, is vital.
Documentation & Compliance
- Create and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, process specs, recipes, and FMEAs.
- Ensure all processes comply with environmental, safety, and chemical handling standards.
Attention to Detail
- Given the microscopic nature of semiconductor devices, meticulous attention to detail is paramount.
Communication & Teamwork
- Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document findings, and present results.
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment is essential for success in semiconductor manufacturing settings.
Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager, as required to support the team and organizational goals.
Job Requirements
Professional Qualifications:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field.
- 5–10+ years of experience in characterization techniques (preferably in semiconductor industry)
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including lithography, deposition, etching, and other fabrication steps, is crucial.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of Damascene/SAP processes for high-density substrates.
- Knowledge of image processing techniques, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms for defect classification and automated inspection can be beneficial
- Familiarity with quality management standards like ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 is beneficial in production environments.
