A retail company in Singapore is seeking a Buyer Assistant to support product sourcing and supplier communications. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business, relevant experience in merchandise planning, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Responsibilities include conducting market research and preparing performance reports to guide business plans.
Support the Buyer in sourcing new product categories, handle supplier communications, prepare POs and follow-up on related administrative or logistical tasks.
Conduct market research, identify brands / IPs with commercial potential for the collectible toys, figurines, plush and gift categories.
Prepare sales, product category and inventory reports of merchandise performance, analyse data to guide business plans.
Drive product category growth performance. Monitor stock levels and sales trends to manage inventory size, support replenishment and promotional activities.
Assist the logistics team in stock management & allocation processes. Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to curate product assortments for retail activities / events.
Degree in Business, Merchandise Planning, Marketing -- preferably with some basic training in Accounting & Finance.
Relevant experience in an office-based function in Merchandise Planning or as a Junior Buyer in the retail sector.
Can communicate well in English, both written and verbally. A pleasant and professional disposition when engaging stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Familiarity with import / shipping logistics preferred. Comfortable working with numbers to understand Pricing, Margins & Profitability.
Willing to travel overseas to trade fairs, source new brands / meet suppliers as part of a team if needed, though such travel is infrequent.
