Job description
We are seeking for an MEP Senior QS who will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, tendering, procurement, contract administration, and cost control related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within construction projects.
This candidate shall be required to perform the following responsibilities: -
Cost Estimation
Analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP components.
Utilise relevant software and tools to perform quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
Tendering and Procurement
Assist in the tendering process by evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers for MEP works.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
Contract Administration
Administer contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, including reviewing terms and conditions, variations, and claims.
Ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled by all parties involved in MEP works.
Valuations and payments
Assess the value of completed MEP works and prepare interim and final valuations for payment purposes.
Review and verify subcontractor payment claims (including supporting documents).
Change management
Manage variations and changes to the scope of MEP works, assessing their impact on project costs.
Ensure changes are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Risk management
Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with MEP works and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitor and report on risk factors that may affect project costs.
Reporting
Provide regular reports to project management and stakeholders on the financial status of MEP works.
Communicate key cost-related metrics, deviations, and forecasts to facilitate informed decision-making.
Final Accounts
Prepare accurate and comprehensive final accounts for MEP works, including all variations and adjustments.
Ensure that final accounts are agreed upon and finalized in a timely manner.
Qualifications: -
Diploma or Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 6-8 years of experience in Quantity Surveying Consultancy Firm or Construction Firm.
Strong understanding of MEP systems and construction processes.
Excellent skills with relevant cost estimation software, AUTOCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Executive communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
