Job description

Strategic Planning and Delivery:

  • Ensure the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP) and field medical activities are prioritized and aligned with the Medical Affairs Strategic Plans.
  • Include an Integrated Engagement plan with a balanced ratio of traditional and non-traditional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams to inform medical and product strategies.
  • Prioritize activities to focus on portfolio priorities.
  • Identify and discuss opportunities for strategic, scalable, and sustainable clinical practice transformations that enhance patient access to quality care.
  • Leverage digital tools and innovations to develop patient-centric solutions and improve access in healthcare systems.
  • Utilize data and dashboards to support decision-making and external engagement.
  • Contribute insights from field and external stakeholders to internal strategic discussions and communicate actionable items.
  • Provide regular updates on delivery versus plan, including variances and mitigation strategies, emphasizing strategic and patient impact.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices and relevant developments and assess their relevance to the team.

Medical Strategy and Clinical Input:

  • Lead medically driven initiatives to address gaps and improve patient outcomes.
  • Design and oversee real-world evidence (RWE) projects, ensuring scientific rigor and reliable data sources.
  • Interpret and communicate RWE findings to inform strategies and healthcare decisions.
  • Establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader through proactive medical input.
  • Lead educational initiatives, develop clinical support tools, and integrate medical advancements into practice.
  • Implement measures to demonstrate the impact of initiatives.
  • Promote innovation through partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem to enable sustainable patient outcomes.

Medical Governance Oversight:

  • Lead a team to ensure all product materials are current and accurate.
  • Provide scientific support and approval for complex product materials and reports for conferences.
  • Hold signatory authority for therapy area materials if necessary.
  • Advise marketing on the medical and scientific accuracy of marketing materials.
  • Ensure branding complies with AstraZeneca standards and regulations.

Team & People Management:

  • Recruit talent suited for the field medical role.
  • Create an environment conducive to team development, growth, and high performance.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and collaboration.

Education, Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in science or a master's in a scientific discipline.
  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
