Job Description

Anatomical Molecular Laboratory (ATOM) is a laboratory under the Department of Anatomical Pathology in Singapore General Hospital. The laboratory performs clinical profiling of cancers using next generation sequencing platforms and is also equipped to perform more conventional PCR based molecular assays. Besides clinical testing of patients’ samples, ATOM (formerly known as the Translation Pathology Centre) also actively collaborates with other partners in translational research of both neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist / Scientist will be required to conduct laboratory tests, specialised investigations, assist in quality control programs, develop translational assays, and participate in training other technologists. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Perform analysis and specialised investigations
  2. Establish, implement, and monitor quality control programs
  3. Timely preparation of reagents and laboratory materials
  4. Assist in development and validation of research assays for translation into clinical use
  5. Assist in operation and maintenance of equipment used for specialised tests in the laboratory
  6. Provide support for collaborative research projects through active participation and literature search in relevant topics
  7. Maintain good records of all experimental data, charts, and tables

Candidates with more experience in relevant areas may be considered for a senior position.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline
  • Preferably with 1 to 2 years’ experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory setting. Knowledge of molecular assays/techniques would be an added advantage, but on-the-job training will be provided.
  • A highly adaptable team player capable of multi-tasking and delivering quality work under tight timelines

  • Responsible and dependable individual who is well-organized and pays attention to details
