Medical Laboratory Technologist / Scientist (ATOM)

Job Description

Anatomical Molecular Laboratory (ATOM) is a laboratory under the Department of Anatomical Pathology at Singapore General Hospital. The laboratory performs clinical profiling of cancers using next-generation sequencing platforms and conventional PCR-based molecular assays. ATOM collaborates with partners in translational research on neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist / Scientist will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, specialized investigations, assisting in quality control, developing translational assays, and training other technologists. Key duties include:

1. Perform analysis and specialized investigations
2. Analyze sequencing data
3. Establish, implement, and monitor quality control programs
4. Prepare reagents and materials timely
5. Assist in developing and validating research assays for clinical translation
6. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment for specialized tests
7. Support collaborative research through participation and literature review
8. Maintain accurate records of experimental data, charts, and tables

Candidates with more experience may be considered for a senior position.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or related field
• Preferably 1-2 years of experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory; knowledge of molecular assays is advantageous but training will be provided
• Adaptable team player capable of multitasking and working under tight deadlines
