Medical Laboratory Scientist, Informatics, DPLM (Contract)

Job Category: Allied Health Professional

The successful candidate will provide critical Information Technology (IT) & data analytics support in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in KK Women's and Children's Hospital. He/she will be part of the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) team responsible for the smooth functioning and continual improvements and upgrades of the IT and related systems. The successful candidate will also work closely with partners in the Integrated Hospital Information Systems (IHIS).

Responsibilities

  • Development of operating standards, policies, and procedures for end-users and end-user training
  • Critical review and timely recommendations of medical lab process redesign where necessary
  • Support and administration of the LIS
  • Purchase of IT hardware and software
  • Identification of IT needs including data storage, instrument interface and connectivity Participation in hospital or cluster-level projects and systems upgrades
  • First level trouble-shooting of IT problems including after-hours emergencies Assisting the department in data analytics for medical laboratory improvements

Requirements

  • Degree in medical laboratory technology or related discipline. Personnel with additional relevant IT certification, postgraduate qualifications are welcomed.
  • Experience working in a medical laboratory setting and in line management and healthcare project management will be advantageous
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in office automation systems and both intranet and internet applications, including knowledge of hospital and healthcare IT systems e.g. SAP, Laboratory Information system, computerised physician test ordering platform, medical records application
  • Self-motivated, driven and tenacious with a resolute commitment to bringing creative and highly intelligent solutions towards apparently unsurmountable and complex IT challenges
