Job summary

RECRUIT EXPRESS PTE LTD is seeking a Laboratory Technologist for a Molecular Diagnosis Centre in Singapore. The role involves specimen reception, LIS operation, and adherence to lab protocols to ensure accurate results.

Responsibilities include reporting critical values, resolving customer queries, conducting QC, maintenance, and contributing to staff training. The position requires a degree in Medical Lab Science and 2–3 years relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Min. Degree in Medical Lab science or a relevant field.
• Min. 2-3 years of relevant clinical lab experience, preferably in molecular diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and supervise reception of specimens; reject unsuitable ones.
• Operate LIS for order entry, result entry, certification and queries.
• Perform procedures per laboratory protocols and report critical values.
• Resolve customer queries and report adverse incidents to supervisor.
• Conduct quality control tests and take corrective actions when needed.
• Undertake preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of instruments.
• Maintain inventory and assist with staff rostering; cover shifts as required.
• Coach trainees and new staff; participate in internal audits and SOP updates.
• Comply with CAP/ Singapore regulatory requirements and safety manuals.
• Assist with project teams and general laboratory administration.

Job description

Job Scope:

• * Participate in and, when necessary, supervise the reception of laboratory specimens and rejection of those that are unsuitable for analysis.
• * Operate the Laboratory Information System to perform functions such as order entry, result entry, result collation & certification and result query.
• * Perform all procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• * Ensure that “critical values” are reported to appropriate personnel.
• * Resolve queries from customers.
• * Report adverse incidents to the supervisor.
• * Perform, record and interpret results of quality control procedures and take corrective action where indicated.
• * Undertake simple preventative maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and perform simple troubleshooting in the event of malfunction.
• * Comply with laboratory inventory management procedures.
• * Keep current with new instrumentation, techniques and procedures by attending/participating in appropriate workshops, seminars and in-service education classes.
• * Conduct of in-service education and continuing education classes.
• * Assist with planning of staff rosters as required.
• * Perform shift duties as required.
• * Coach trainees and new staff in laboratory procedure.
• * Carry out the instruction(s) of senior staff with regard to work procedures and duties.
• * To conduct internal audit.
• * Comply with good laboratory practice as set out by the Laboratory Accreditation Programme of the College of American Pathologists and Singapore regulatory agencies such as the Medical Audit & Accreditation Unit.
• * Ensure compliance with all requirement of the Laboratory Safety Manual.
• * Comply with DLM Workplace Etiquette in line with Core Values.
• * Assist with the evaluation of new laboratory test methodologies.
• * Undertake back-up procedures in the event of emergencies such as loss of electrical power and information system crash.
• * Participate in basic laboratory administrative work such as filling, processing of deliveries orders and invoices.
• * Assist with drafting and updating of laboratory protocols when required.
• * Participate and contribute to project teams as required.
• * Cover duties of Senior Medical Technologist when required.
• * Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements:

• Min. Degree in Medical Lab science/ any relevant field
